| 1 | The 2008 Junior Music Festival is open to Piano, Strings, Woodwind, Percussion, Brass or Voice students who are aged under 16 years at 31st July, 2008 (Proof of age may be requested). |
| 2 | The Junior Music Festival is open to both students of members of the MTA of NSW Ltd and non-members. |
| 3 | Entrants may enter for ONE section only for each
instrument (eg. for one section in Piano and for one section in Strings).
One entry fee must be paid for each section entered. |
| 4 | Entrants must not have passed an examination at a higher grade than the section entered. |
| 5 | Students may enter for one venue only. |
| 6 | Entrants must, on the entry form, name the work
to be performed which is to be of the standard so entered. NOTE: Entrants will be ineligible to perform a chosen piece which is not within the section limitations, ie. of a higher of lower standard. Non-adherence to this rule will result in automatic disqualification. |
| 7 | Entry forms will not be accepted
unless accompanied by the required fee (See 8 Below). ONE PAYMENT
PER STUDIO, PLEASE together with a stamped, self-addressed A4 envelope
for confirmation of entry, receipt and program. |
| 8 | Entries must be received at the MTA Office no
later than the closing date for each venue. Late entries will be accepted
up to 1 week after the closing date ONLY if accompanied by the $10
PER ENTRY LATE FEE. |
| 9 | In the event that the advertised adjudicator is
unavailable, the MTA of NSW Ltd reserves the right to substitute an
adjudicator. |
| 10 | Under no circumstances shall any teacher, member of the audience or contestant approach the adjudicator prior to or during the course of the event. Non-adherence to this rule will result in that person being requested to leave the event. |
| 11 | Intimidation of any entrant will not be tolerated and will be dealt with accordingly. |
| 12 | A successful candidate (ie. First Prize winner) may not compete in the same section in the following year. |
| 13 | All rules from AMCOS (Australasian
Mechanical Copyright Owners’ Society) applying to the photocopying of music must be strictly observed. The Music Teachers’ Association of NSW accepts no responsibility for unauthorised copy of material by entrants and assumes that no copyright laws have been infringed. Photocopied music presented by an entrant in the Junior Music Festival will not be returned to the entrant. |
| 14 | No photographs, video recording or audio recording allowed. Non-adherence to this rule mayl result in the automatic disqualification of the performer. |
| 15 | A copy of the entrant’s music must be provided for the adjudicator. In the event that the chosen work is outside the standard repertoire, a copy of the music may be requested prior to the event. |
| 16 | Changing of pieces is not permitted once program
has been printed (approximately 1 week before Festival). Any changes
must be submitted to the MTA Secretary in writing. |
| 17 | No person will be permitted access to the event whilst a performance is in progress. |
| 18 | Audience Entry Fees will be charged at each Festival ($12 per family, $5 per adult, $3 child/concession) |
