HSC Day Entry Form

This is a wonderful opportunity to hear an HSC expert discuss the teaching and understanding of all aspects of the Higher School Certificate music syllabus.

Presenter Joanne Burrows BA [Music & Theatre], Grad.Dip.Teach, AMusA, LTCL [Pedagogy], Cert.IV [Assessment & Training] has over 20 years as a classroom and studio teacher and is currently Head of Piano and Music Craft at the Riverina Conservatorium and Chair of the Curriculum Committee. Joanne’s students have achieved high results and nominations for Encore performances. She has examined written, aural and composition aspects of the HSC. She is an avid composer of pedagogical works published by Wirripang and is the organiser of the annual RCM regional HSC study day for non-government and government schools in the Riverina area.

Whether you are a studio or classroom teacher and whether you are currently teaching HSC students or not, this is a valuable course, not to be missed.  Aural skills, musicology, repertoire and much more will be discussed and explained along with the marking criteria for each section.

The day will be divided into several sessions, covering all aspects of the HSC requirements.  Some of the topics include:

  • an overview of Music 1, Music 2 and Extension dealing with the course structures, topics and electives, weighting of marks and much more…
  • how the instrumental teacher can work productively with the classroom teacher, the student and parents; core subjects and electives; performance requirements and choosing a programme….
